The 2nd International Conference on Negative CO2 Emissions will be held at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. The conference venue is the Chalmers Student Union Building (Chalmers Kårhus) at campus Johanneberg (a map can be found here: http://maps.chalmers.se/#fa115b80-e3fe-11e8-b855-d155dd0e5598). The venue is within walking distance (15-20 min) from Hotel Panorama.
Travel & transportation
Gothenburg is located close to Landvetter airport and transfer by airport coach is convenient and fast. Please have a look at the website of the bus operator Flygbussarna for time tables and ticket fees. The bus stop closest to Hotel Panorama is called Korsvägen. It is also possible to go by taxi directly from the airport and prices are typically around 400 SEK for 1-4 passengers.
Of course, we would be very pleased if all those who have the possibility to do so use land-based transportation alternatives instead of air travel.
If you want to use Gothenburg’s public transport system, please have a look at the website of the operator Västtrafik for detailed information. Download the “Västtrafik To Go” app to plan your travel and buy tickets.
Being a coastal city, Gothenburg is not blessed with a stable climate. Rain and strong winds are frequent throughout the year. The amount of rainfall in June is on average 61 mm, spread out over 12 days. The average maximum daytime temperature is around 19°C.
Currency and credit cards
Sweden’s local currency is Swedish Krona (SEK). It is possible to exchange money at Landvetter airport and at the Gothenburg train station, and it is normally possible to withdraw Swedish currency with foreign cards using cash machines.
Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops and it is normally not necessary to carry much cash. American Express and credit cards other than Visa and MasterCard are not so common and might not be accepted everywhere.
Electricity is supplied at 220/230V, 50Hz AC and the plugs accepted are CEE 7/4 “Schuko” (Type F) and CEE 7/16 “Europlug” (Type C). For more details see the related Wikipedia article.
Swedish water is of very good quality and you can drink it straight from the tap.
Directions to Börsen
Börsen is a 30-minute walk (2.3km) away from the conference venue, with address Östra Hamngatan 21, 411 10, Göteborg. It is also possible to use public transportation. From Chalmers station take the tram 7 (Bergsjön), 10 (Eketrägatan) or bus 16 (Västra Eriksberg) and exit at Brunnsparken. Walk towards the Gustaf Adolfs Square. Börsen is located north of the statue.
